2005 Silverado - Oil Pressure Gauge Pegged Out. This morning on the way to work my oil pressure gauge pegged out. While running, the needle is absolutely maxed out even beyond the highest reading on the gauge. When I cut off the engine, the needle falls back about 1/2 to 3/4" but still is not even reaching the highest reading.Oil pressure will change with RPM and oil temperature. 22psi at idle is totally normal. I would guess that the sensor is/going bad or is loose. I believe it is located near your oil filter.
