Nov 28, 2009 · Tranny fluid is what GM says. There was an article awhile back from the manufacturer of the transfercase to use 3 qts of 5w30 motor oil and fill it through the speed sensor hole. The sensor is located at the top of the transfer case. Just crawl under your truck and you will see the sensor there. I used a little pump and just pumped 3qt's into it. If you dont plan on doing that, the stock fluid in there is fine..... I finally found the drain plug (had to remove the skid-plate) and put in 5 qts. of fresh, Dextron III ATF. There was about 6 qts. of milky, old ATF in my drain pan which may be due to condensation.
