The one I'm asking about in this thread is a Marlin Model 39A, 24-inch, ".22 CAL. S. L. & L.R.". The serial number under the lever is 242XX. It has a small "JM" in an oval stamped on the right side of the barrel. The stock is plain. Your gun with a "C" serial number prefix cannot be a Mountie, as the "C" prefix indicates your gun was made in 1946.
