Hi, Double click on the node to select. use Option S (Alt S) to add a node after the current one. If its greyed out with the recycle logo.. you may have a GPU resource issue. Lets start with one node first and make sure you can select that. Then add a second and see if that works. I was able to correct this by changing my display resolution from 3840 x 2160 down to 1920 x 1080 and the scale from 250% to 100%.
