At least not for me. It's more of a "don't get open wounds" strategy. You must do a few things before you can bandage them. To stitch the wound, players need a needle and a thread. A suture needle can be used to stitch a deep wound. I got an infection on my foot, ignored it, slept near corpses after a long day of fighting and just died of terminal damage.
